East St. Deli

August 2023: New logo / brand for East St. Deli.

A new deli is opening soon in Faversham, situated in East Street, Faversham. It’s perfectly positioned and a welcome addition to the town.

Nicky Reader (the client) outlined her ideas for the design of logo and branding. Her ideas for the look and feel of the brand were very well thought out, explained and sit well within the retail outlets in the town.

The brief mentioned values such as a friendly, local provisions store, quality, expertise, top customer service, open all hours style, vintage deli style but with a new feel. Ideas for the colour scheme included green (with white logo), grey, charcoal, black, sage, yellow and black & yellow.

It was agreed that the logo would be simple, clean and strong in look / colours. I outlined the deli name with a key line rectangle and the location ‘Faversham’. I created a version for the client to review (as below). 

The logo is to be used on shop front and packaging. Based on the initial design ideas, the logo is intended to be included on an awning outside the shop. I have added a couple of photos (below) to show the initial addition of logo and graphics on the shop front window and door.

Deli food will be sold in brown paper bags / possible refill units for olive (and other) oil and vinegars / printed (branded) Tote Bags / stock changes every week – so remains fresh and exciting to customers.

A selection of potential colours for the brand were discussed, based on this, I created a colour chart. Again, this was created for client review. It was thought that the the following sets of colours work well with the logo. 

The client has selected colours for the shopfront and interior, which is being decorated and soon to be finished.

There was talk about a colour scheme for the shop awning, based on discussions, I created a few options prior to the logo selection (see below).

Further to logo, colour schemes and awnings, I worked up logo with potential strapline below.

The client will review and use the chosen logo to brand the shopfront, packaging, boards, signage, etc.

This is a very exciting project to work on, I look forward to seeing the deli open soon, on 03.10.23.
