East Kent Open Houses 2024

January – ongoing: East Kent Artists’ Open Houses 2024 – design of marketing material.

I have been involved in this project for the last eight years, working alongside Neil Brown, East Kent Open Houses town / area reps and artists to put together the marketing material for the event. I create / design the brochure, posters, flyers, banners, maps, online forms, house numbers, social media icons and a guidelines booklet. Neil Brown looks after the EKOH website.

The initial part of the project is to select a colour for the event. This year, it’s gone really bold! This colour carries through all marketing material including the website. I then update all material, including the brochure, which takes a lot of work as it contains all artists details, information about their work and includes a picture of their artwork. Artists start registering to be involved from March 2024 onwards, last year, there were over 250 artists (spread over 115 houses) who took part in the event, I expect the same, or more artists to take part this year.

As the brochure intro says, the artists’ trail gives the public a personal insight into how participating artists work within their specialised fields. It provides visitors with a wealth of work to see, and information and interest about its makers, to pave the way for making new contacts and discovering opportunities for anyone interested in taking up new fields of creativity. The trail is an invitation to visit artists in their homes, studios, and galleries, to speak to them in person about their work and to find out what is happening creatively in their local areas. With many of the works also for sale, it is an opportunity to buy direct from the artist or their representatives.

Below is an image of one of the posters, used to promote the event.

I have prepared a few items for this years event already, including the posters, ‘call for artists’  flyers, social media icons and large banners for each area. I have included a visual of one of the banners below.

As other materials are created for this event, I will add them to this blog.
