Risograph print out
April 2023: Risograph print. Had a great afternoon recently @goose.studio@creek_creative learning about #risograph printing.
I found one of my doodles in a sketchbook, which was sized at A4, I then enlarged it to A3 so it would fill page.

The course allow a maximum of two colours. As the artwork was created in pen and ink (black) it seemed like the right idea to keep it that way. The print run was a set of 10 prints, firstly in black ink, and then a second colour – I chose yellow. A stencil was made on tracing paper. I placed the tracing paper over the artwork and marked the areas where I wanted the second colour to sit.

Thanks to Sarah, who runs the course at Creek Creative, and taught me about the history, process and quirks of the Risograph printer. It was fun and informative. Five of us were on the course and printed a diverse mix of artworks, which looked great.

The artwork is a doodle, inspired by nature (ploughed fields, trees, roots, sunshine), everyday symbols and buildings, and with plenty of repeated shapes, hatching and cross hatching.
