December 2022: Transatlantic Trance Map.

Photos from two all-star ensembles who met for a live real-time audio lip-sync trans-Atlantic performance one Saturday in December. The performances took place at The Hot Tin, Faversham and at Roulette, Brooklyn, New York.

Screens in each venue showed the simultaneous live action in other venue.

This was an evening in the presence of serious jazz heads creating one concert from two venues in two different countries.

Once the concert starts, I take a few minutes to listen, watch and get a feel for the music and performers. I also check out different vantage points from around the room, planning where I can position myself to take photos. I then get started taking photos.

Always it’s good to get a mix of key shots at event, with all musicians playing, close up and from the back of the venue. During the performance, there were plenty of solo performances for me to focus on. The music was very free, it was pretty mind blowing to think that the music I could hear (in sync)  was a mix of musicians performing in two venues / two countries.

The Hot Tin in Faversham always holds original top quality music.
